BRIAN REVELS

has been teaching a variety of instruments with Eclectic Music since 2012. He is a regular presence on the Atlanta singer-songwriter circuit, playing and booking shows all around the city. He is a graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Music with a Certificate of Performance for Guitar, but is also a proficient banjo, ukulele, harmonica and piano player. Though he personally gravitates towards folk-music, he is also a proficient music reader and is comfortable teaching anything from Taylor Swift to classical guitar.

JENNA LIVSEY

is voice, guitar and piano teacher here with Eclectic Music as well as a full-time music therapist at Emory's skilled nursing facility, Budd Terrace. She is also a staff singer at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta. Jenna completed her undergraduate degree in music therapy, her primary instrument being voice, at the University of Georgia, and completed her Master's in Music Therapy at Colorado State University.

Jenna has been singing for her entire life, and has been playing piano since she was eight years old. In college, she learned to play guitar and ukulele as part of her music therapy curriculum. Her college courses incorporated learning many other instruments, including percussion, autoharp, handbells, and more. Jenna has worked with people of all ages, ranging from infants to the elderly. Because of this, she has incorporated all types of music and musical interaction into her practice. Her favorite part of her job is using music to help people become stronger and happier.

Jenna's first priority as a teacher is to understand her students' strengths and learning styles. She takes into account what her students want to get out of music lessons and what they want to play. To ensure that her students fall in love with music, she provides a stress-free, fun learning environment that makes practicing appealing and less like a chore. Most lessons will include warming up, answering questions students have, and playing through pieces to address any issues or alter technique to ensure growth as a musician. But the largest part of lessons with Jenna feature her love of making people laugh while helping students discover strengths and abilities they never knew they had!

Alonso Padron

Alonso Listening To Playback For Funk Song Recording, 800 East Studios.JPG

Alonso Padron

is a guitar, electric bass, and ukulele teacher at Eclectic Music. He became engrossed with music at the early age of 5, first with the sounds of a record from Venezuela, then from the sounds of both his parents on the piano around the house, his father playing jazz and his mother playing classical, and then finally through his own early piano studies. But it was only when, a few years later, that a friend showed Alonso how to strum a few chords of a song that he became captivated by the guitar, and has been so ever since. He attended college at the University of Georgia, and took courses in music history, theory, and applied studies and has been teaching music professionally since 1999.

Alonso actively performs regionally with bands and duos, ranging in styles from rock, folk, blues, soul, funk, popular, classical, jazz and flamenco. He has also played in several rock outfits such as Street Poets, Los Sonidos, and LB Collective, performing at various venues in Georgia such as The Boar’s Head, The Brandyhouse, Somber Reptile, C.J.’s Landing, The Mansion, Smith’s Olde Bar, and The Strand, and most notably, at the prestigious club Vinyl in midtown, Atlanta. In addition to his active performance career, he has also recorded two original albums and has written and recorded original scoring for Georgia Public Television.

Teaching music combines all of Alonso’s prime interests and passions, which are music, psychology, and interpersonal one-on-one interaction. With an uncanny ability to adapt to different personalities and ages, thereby making it a comfortable learning environment for each student, Alonso also prides himself on a careful balance between being systematic, organized, and detailed in his lessons, while remaining flexible enough to tailor his teaching to every student's goals. Above all, Alonso seeks to inspire his students to inspire themselves.

TESTIMONIALS.

"I've taken guitar lessons with Alonso for over five years, and it has been a great experience. He impressed me with his own extensive skill and followed through by passing on his knowledge to me as I grew as a guitar player. He makes everything from music theory to jazz scales interesting by tying it to familiar songs and riffs that I recognize. Because of Alonso, playing guitar has become my favorite hobby and an integral part of my life."

- Michael, student, age 17

"Alonso was my guitar teacher for a total of 6 years. In that time he has inspired me to do what I truly want to do. I've never had someone so patient, and excited to teach me everything he could. Although he wasn't just a teacher, he was my friend, and we didn't always talk about music, we talked about life. We shared our experiences, our troubles, our triumphs whether it was musical or something else. He treated me as an equal which is something you find not often enough in not just a teacher, but for anyone. He is such a compassionate guy, and we made an immediate connection. When it came to music/guitar, he really helped me realize my passion, and not only that but he helped me pursue it as a real career. I'm about to enter Clayton State University's music program and it is all because of Alonso Padron. He is the most inspirational role model I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I'm proud to call him not just my mentor, but my friend. He will always be close to me, and I know that he treats all of his students with respect, patience, and compassion. I believe with all that I am that he is the best guitar teacher for any student. "

teaches a bounty of musical instruments and styles for Eclectic Music, including bass, drums, piano, guitar, ukulele, songwriting and band coaching. Michael began his journey to becoming a professional musician when he bought his first bass guitar at the age of 12 after he saved enough money by washing buckets at his grandfather's flower shop. Michael studied at both Augusta State University, with emphasis on both electric and upright bass, and the Atlanta Institute of Music, where he graduated with honors at the top of his class from the Bass Musicianship Program.

Michael has recorded and toured - nationally and abroad - with Athens, GA based singer-songwriter Bain Mattox and the critically acclaimed funk/rock group the Riff Raff Kings. He had the invaluable opportunity to share the stage with R.E.M., The Violent Femmes, 3 Doors Down, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Sister Hazel, Edwin McCain, O.A.R., Marc Broussard, Cowboy Mouth, Parliament Funkadelic, British mega-group Bush and many, many more. In addition to teaching, Michael is also constantly - and joyfully - writing, recording, and performing with many varied local artists and groups in styles ranging from jazz and soul to rock and country.

As a teacher, Michael works passionately to teach his students the “language of music.” This language covers all the basics of technique, theory, scales, and rhythm. Once learned however, this can be applied not only to the student’s primary instrument but also to any instrument! Michael is always striving to pass along his deep love and enthusiasm for music.

Michael is a very accomplished musician who has taught our son piano for the last several years, and we think the world of him.  He has a lovely style - he teaches all the basics and classics but will tailor the learning for your child’s interests. My son has made steady improvement each week, adores Michael, and genuinely enjoys practicing now. We give Michael our highest recommendation!
