Found Sounds
You can make music out of anything.
Do you like to make a whole lot of noise and bang on things? You'll love this workshop.
We'll channel all that energy into creating music in unexpected ways:
- Creating percussion ensembles out of household objects and even our own bodies!
- Building our own musical instruments (workshop leader Brillo is a master at this)
- Storytelling through sound design
- Hands-on experience with percussion and other folk instruments from around the world
- Experimentation with electronic instruments
- Playing musical games that teach you how to read music notation and build your motor schools
- Inventing (and performing on) an instrument that you designed
You will will learn rhythms "by ear" and "by eye," improve your ability to follow directions, and learn to integrate your musical performance while learning to think in new and creative ways about what music can be.
The week will end with a performance for your family and friends, showcasing your new instruments and skills.
This workshop will be offered the week of July 23, 2012 at 56 17th Street in Ansley Park. Sign up now!
All Eclectic Music workshops are one-week, half-day workshops in which participants (ages five and up) are grouped based on age and experience. Two workshops can be combined to create a full-day workshop. Tuition starts at $160 per workshop and is 10% off until April 1.
