Found Sounds

Bringing creativity and critical thinking to music-making

Aspiring drummers will find a home in this class - or even just kids who like to make a whole lot of noise and bang on things!

We channel all that energy into creating music in unexpected ways: creating percussion ensembles out of household objects and our own bodies, building our own musical instruments, and experimenting with sound design.

Kids learn rhythms "by ear" and "by eye," improve their ability to follow directions and integrate their musical performance with the group, and build their critical thinking skills.

Class leader Brillo brings a genuine passion for experimentation and the building of crazy instruments. Never have tin cans and PVC pipe sounded so beautiful together. The combination of hypnotic rhythms and imaginative interfaces will inspire and delight you in a way that traditional music instruction doesn't touch.

This class is a great opportunity for creative expression and the development of a love of music that will sustain a student through the challenges of learning any instrument - or bringing a new one into the world.
