Piano Accelerator

Zoom forward with your ability and enthusiasm!

This is not at all what we're talking about. So maybe you've been playing for a few months and are totally having fun and want to go deeper...or you might be starting to slow down and get a tiny bit...dare we say it?...bored.

This workshop is perfect either way! You'll learn:

  • Why the easiest way to learn a piece is by starting at the end
  • How to improvise your own cool part to a song using just five notes
  • How to build chords and scales using blocks, train cars, index cards, stairs, and even people
  • How to make practicing like a game
  • How to take advantage of the cool sounds a keyboard can make in order to create a piano band (whoever keeps using the police whistle key, can you turn down just a little bit? Like, all the way?)
  • How to take a piece from "pretty good" to "wow"
  • How to accompany a vocalist (maybe yourself!)

The week will include one-on-one time with the instructor, as well as lots of ensemble time. The workshop will end with a concert for your family and friends.

This workshop will be offered the weeks of June 18, July 9, and July 30, 2012 at 56 17th Street in Ansley Park. Sign up now!

All Eclectic Music workshops are one-week, half-day workshops in which participants (ages five and up) are grouped based on age and experience. Two workshops can be combined to create a full-day workshop. Tuition starts at $160 per workshop and is 10% off until April 1.
