Recording Techniques
Learn how to get the greatest possible sound from the gear you've got!
Photo by timsnell.Sometimes, this is how it goes: You get into playing music, then you get into writing music, then you want to record your ideas, and then you want to share them, and then you figure you might as well record them yourself, and then you start collecting gear, and then...well, God help you, there's no turning back after that.
That's where we come in! We can help you do the best you can with the equipment you already have before you go piling up more stuff.
In this workshop, you'll learn:
- How to set up a mic to get the best sound
- How to use popular software to make recordings
- Multitrack recording and overdubbing
- XLR, 1/4", phono - huh? How everything hooks together
- Recommended recording setups for common instruments (and singers)
- How to position instruments in the stereo field (panning)
- Effects: compression, reverb, delay, and more
The week will include a trip to a nearby recording studio within walking distance and will end with a listening party where you'll share your recordings with family and friends.
This workshop will be offered the week of July 16, 2012 at 56 17th Street in Ansley Park. Sign up now!
