Songwriting Workshop

From beginner to advanced (by the way, the advanced people started out as beginners).

Writing makes you feel good.If there is any part of you that wants to do this workshop, do it.

Even if you've never written a song.

Even if you have a notebook full of half-finished songs that you would never want anyone to see.

Even if you think you're already really awesome at songwriting and know everything there is to know about it.

The thing is, anyone can learn. Anyone can get better. You will be amazed and delighted at what you're able to come up with when you've got guidance, encouragement, accountability, and very specific assignments.

You'll learn:

  • A helpful assortment of tricks that will help you come up with ideas even when you think you're stuck
  • The qualities that make lyrics great, and how to write good ones yourself
  • How a song should be structured - and how it could be structured
  • How to give and receive advice that is helpful, constructive, kind, and effective
  • The keys to collaborating with other songwriters
  • Shortcuts that will allow you to create music for your song even if you don't play an instrument

In the past, participants have come away with several new songs after the week-long workshop. You'll get a chance to perform your songs in a concert for family and friends at week's end!

This workshop will be offered the weeks of June 11 and July 9, 2012 at 56 17th Street in Ansley Park. Sign up now!

All Eclectic Music workshops are one-week, half-day workshops in which participants (ages five and up) are grouped based on age and experience. Two workshops can be combined to create a full-day workshop. Tuition starts at $160 per workshop and is 10% off until April 1.
