Eclectic Music has two terms: the school year (from the second Monday in August through the Monday before Memorial Day) and the summer (late May through early August). Lessons are weekly through the school year and flexible during the summer.
During the school year, lessons are paid in installments of four on the first of each month (August through April). Four lessons x nine installments = 36 lessons, August through May.
There are no lessons on Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, or Presidents' Day. there are no lessons the week of Thanksgiving, the last two weeks of December, New Year's Day, or the first full week of April. These weeks and dates are already factored into the total of 36 lessons. Monday students will end up with 33 to 35 lessons, meaning they will have extra credits at the end of the school year.
When your teacher cancels a lesson, your paid credit will remain on your account. Your teacher may invite you to make up the lesson on another date, but you are under no obligation to do so.
Weekday lessons that are canceled by the student for any reason cannot be made up, nor can tuition be refunded. This is because, unlike at a salon or a dentist's office, the time slots cannot be rebooked. A teacher may, at his or her discretion, offer to reschedule the lesson if he or she has an available time slot.
Our teachers are contractors who are paid a professional rate for their services. They are paid even when lessons are canceled, which gives them the stability that allows them to function as professionals.
If you require more flexibility, you may be able to participate in our Floating Plan. These lessons take place on weekends, late evenings, or early afternoons and can be canceled with no charge with at least 24 hours' notice. Participants in the Floating Plan generally pay for 3 lessons with each payment instead of 4.
If you would like to request a make-up lesson from your teacher, contact your teacher directly. Makeup lessons are subject to availability and are not guaranteed, nor can they be carried over into future weeks.
If you need to make a permanent change to your schedule, contact the office. We generally need a week or two to accommodate such requests.
Lessons are paid by automatic payments to your credit card.
Late payments (more than five days after the due date) are subject to a $20 late fee. If payment has not been made within 10 days after the due date, the student may be removed from our roster.
If Eclectic Music must close due to inclement weather or another Act of God outside of our control, the first such occurrence will be charged to the student; the second will be made up by adding an additional lesson at the end of the school year.
Credits for lessons or classes canceled by a representative of Eclectic Music will roll forward to be used toward future lessons (with the exception of Acts of God, i.e. inclement weather).
We will prorate, by request only, the final payment on April 1 and one additional payment during the year.
Books and materials are given as needed and charged to your card when they are received by the student.
A student wishing to discontinue lessons must give two weeksʼ notice, in writing, to our office.
Tuition must be paid in full each month using only one payment method.
A registration fee of $50 per family will be due with your first payment. Thereafter, the registration fee will be charged annually on August 1. Your registration fee in subsequent years is waived if you enroll for the following year by May 1.
If you have any issues with your teacher or your lessons, contact the office. We will do what we can to make sure that you have a positive experience.
