The Irresistible Harp
This versatile instrument will sound beautiful right away, no matter what your level of experience is.
This summer at Eclectic Music, we've got the amazing Lyrika Holmes, and we'll even have colorful harps for your use. You will love the possibilities the harp will present to you!
Lyrika comes to us with a ton of experience as a performer, singer/songwriter, and teacher. She has a master's degree in music education and plays both piano and harp. She is an inspiring and encouraging presence.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- Ten folk songs to play on the harp
- How to read music in treble and bass clef (if you're a pianist, you'll have an advantage here!)
- Familiar pop songs such as "I'm Yours" and "Let it Be" (although you'll need more than a week to learn to play heavy metal as well as this guy or Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" as well as this guy).
- Right and left hand techniques that will give you a great foundation for harping
- Music theory shortcuts that will allow you to learn music faster
You'll also get the opportunity to play in an ensemble setting, work on your solo skills, and discover the amazing things that harpists and harpers around the world are doing! The workshop will end in a concert for your parents and friends.
Dates for the summer of 2012 have not been set. Let us know if you are interested in this workshop!
All Eclectic Music workshops are one-week, half-day workshops in which participants (ages five and up) are grouped based on age and experience. Two workshops can be combined to create a full-day workshop. Tuition starts at $160 per workshop and is 10% off until April 1.
