Jimmy King
There is a distinct difference between musicians who play for profit and musicians who play for the passion of the craft. Jimmy King is a musician who fits solidly in the latter category. He discovered music in middle school as a way to follow in his brother’s footsteps, but he ended up carving out a niche for himself that shows not only his musical style but demonstrates his passion in a way that moves his audience every time he picks up his instrument.
Jimmy, a well-known Atlanta-based musician, earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in Music/Trumpet Performance from Morehouse College and his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University. He has performed and recorded with Angie Stone, PJ Morton, Monica, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, David Banner, and Janelle Monae, among a host of other artists. Currently, Jimmy and his trumpet are gracing the world on tour behind Grammy-award winning artist Bruno Mars, with whom he has been working for over eight years.
Jimmy's teaching style is simple. Meet you where you are and challenge you to new heights. He believes that no matter your life goals there are a lot of great life lessons that can be learned from playing an instrument. He will always encourage his students to know its okay to make mistakes, giving up is not an option and that you always strive for your best.
